Liliana Ruta   University of Catania

In 2001 I graduated in Medicine (six year degree programme; Hons) from the University of Catania in Italy, and in October 2006 I completed a five year specialty training in Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry (Hons). During the specialty training I worked on psychopathological features and neuropsychological aspects of children and adolescents with both neurological and psychiatric disorders at the University Polyclinic Hospital of Catania.

In the last four years I have been also involved in projects relating to Autism Spectrum Condition, being a member of an Academic Scientific Committee for the care of autistic children in Sicily (‘Autism Project’).

Since December 2006 I have been a PhD student in Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry at the University of Catania.

As part of my PhD programme, I spent the year of 2007 in Cambridge for a research-focused visit at the Autism Research Centre, supporting Erin Ingudomnukul in her project on ‘Hormones and Behaviour’.

I’m currently back in Catania, continuing a close collaboration with the Autism Research Centre on the current Hormones Project and Asperger Syndrome Mass Spectrometry project, and starting a new research project on Puberty in Autism Spectrum Condition.
